Whenever a mortgage on personal property was made, it had to be recorded within three months in the county in which the grantor resided and in which the property was located (see Ala. Code, 47-110 [1958 Recompiled]). This series consists of the several security devices used to perfect transactions prior to the adoption of the Uniform Commercial Code by Alabama in 1967. Information recorded in this series includes names and addresses of mortgagee and mortgagor, type of property sold, and price, interest rate, witnesses, date of transaction, entry information, and the signature of the probate judge. This record began in 1819 and was discontinued in 1967.
